Red & The Kingdom Of Sound
Red & The Kingdom Of Sound is an animated adaptation of Benjamin Britten's 1945 composition, The Young Person's Guide To The Orchestra. It visualises the symphony orchestra as a fantastical realm comprising fifteen different architectural districts deriving from the different musical instruments of the orchestra. Red, the animation's protagonist, personifies the new-comer to classical music as he makes his way through the distinctive musical terrains of Britten's orchestral landscape. The animation was devised to be screened with live accompaniment by symphony orchestras and was commissioned as part of the ONE is more project. The ‘ONE is more’ project, funded by Creative Europe. In addition to a programme of performances in France, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Slovakia, Red & The Kingdom Of Sound was shared with European schools as part of their respective music curricula.
